Dangote Refinery Suspends Naira Sales of PMS

Yemi

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it will suspend the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Naira, effective Sunday, September 28, 2025.

The refinery disclosed this in an email to its customers at 6:42 p.m. on Friday. The message stated that the company had been selling petroleum products beyond its Naira-crude allocations and could no longer sustain transactions in the local currency.

“We write to inform you that Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has been selling petroleum products in excess of our Naira-Crude allocations and, consequently, we are unable to sustain PMS sales in Naira going forward,” the email read in part.

The refinery added that customers who had made Naira payments for PMS could request refunds. “All customers with PMS transactions in Naira who would like a refund of their current payments should formally request the processing of their refund,” it stated.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery said further updates on the resumption of Naira sales would be communicated once the issue was resolved.
