EFCC arrested 29 persons for internet fraud

29 persons arrested by EFFC for internet fraud are set to face trials in Abuja.

According to the agency the suspects were arrested on Wednesday.The agency made the disclosure in a statement on its Facebook page.

EFFC disclosed that the arrest followed an intelligence report it received about the activities of the suspects.

The agency revealed this in a statement on its Facebook page on Thursday .He disclosed that following the hint off, the EFCC operatives stormed the Apo, Gwarimpa, and Katampe areas of the FCT and arrested the 29 suspects.

The statement read, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Abuja Zonal Command on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, arrested 29 suspected internet fraudsters.

“They were arrested at Apo, Gwarimpa, and Katampe areas of Abuja following actionable intelligence about their suspected involvement in internet fraud.”

The statement added that exhibits such as mobile phones, vehicles, and smartwatches were recovered from the suspects.

The agency added that the suspects would be taken in court upon the conclusion of an investigation.

“Items seized from the suspects include 43 phones of different makes, six vehicles, and two smartwatches. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” he stated.
