EFCC detains Ex CBN govenor after DSS release 

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has detained Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele shortly after he regained his freedom from the custody of the Department of State Services.

 

According to a report, Emefiele who is currently being interrogated at the National Headquarters of the anti-graft agency, Jabi, Abuja, was picked up by EFCC operatives Thursday night, less than an hour after he regained his freedom from the custody of the Department of State Services.

Recall that the former CBN govenor was arrested o by the Department of State Service the same day president Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended him from office with immediate effect.

On September 22, the CBN officially confirmed Emefiele’s resignation after Olayemi Cardoso was appointed as substantive governor of the apex bank.
