Abdurrahman Alimi, father of the five-year-old girl abducted nearly a month ago, has voiced frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation into his daughter’s disappearance.
Memunah was taken on March 9, 2025, while returning home from an Islamic school in the Ejigbo area.
In an interview with PUNCH, Abdurrahman Alimi, the father of the girl said the kidnapper approached Memunah and her sister near a local supermarket, lured them under the pretense of buying items, and then disappeared with Memunah, leaving her sister behind.
Nearly a month after the incident, the abductors contacted the family using a private number, demanding a ransom of ₦500,000 for Memunah’s release. Alimi reported the development to the police, who advised that further communication be conducted via WhatsApp.
“It was almost a month after my daughter was abducted that they called us. They hid their phone numbers and asked us to pay N500,000 before they would release my daughter. They hung up the phone and have not called back since then. I believe my daughter is still alive “ Alimi stated.
However, the family has since received no updates, and Alimi expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case. Despite this, the family remains in the dark regarding any advancements in locating their daughter.
