The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports of an explosion at the Mogadishu Army Cantonment along the Abuja-Keffi Road, stating that the incident was not a terrorist attack but involved an individual who stole an explosive device from a quarry which accidentally detonated while he was en route to an undisclosed location.
According to Wike, the explosive accidentally detonated while the suspect was en route to an unknown destination.
Wike made the clarification on Monday during an inspection tour of ongoing projects across the FCT.
He emphasized that the incident was not linked to any form of suicide bombing and assured residents that Abuja remains the safest city in the country.
