The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi -Esan
has announced a mandatory one-year training program for all government workers with Higher National Diplomas (HNDs).
The program is a requirement for HND holders to transition from the Executive to the Officer cadre.
The announcement was made during a virtual interactive session with civil servants, commemorating the 2024 Civil Service Week.
The theme of the event was “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Life-long, Quality and Relevant Learning in Africa.”
Dr. Yemi-Esan emphasized the need for education to be accessible, inclusive, and of high quality.
“We need the implementation of a Performance Management System (PMS) in the civil service, which will assess officers’ performance based on their respective Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)”, she said.
According to her, the digitalization of civil service processes has also been completed.
“With all official correspondences now being processed electronically through the Enterprise Content Management solution. This move is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the civil service.
“The new system will assess each officer’s performance solely based on their respective Key Performance Indicators and it will enable tracking of job objectives across all MDAs”, she said.
