Fire Engulfs GSM Village in Lokoja, Millions of Naira Worth of Properties

Kogi state traders has appealed to the state government for assistance concerning their goods that got burnt at the GSM village around Kpata Market in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.On Thursday,

It was reported that a fire gutted the market destroying properties worth millions of naira. The fire, caused by a power upsurge, gutted shops and destroyed goods, including laptops, phones, and accessories.

“We have lost everything. We need help to rebuild and recover from this disaster,” said Moses Felix, Financial Secretary, Kogi Association of Phones and Accessories Dealers.”

A devastating fire has ravaged our market, leaving us with nothing. We appeal to the Kogi State Government to intervene and assist us financially and rebuild the GSM village,” said Muhammed Yahaya, a trader who lost his goods to the fire.

The fire has not only destroyed properties but also affected the livelihoods of over 200 youths engaged in the business.

“We are resourceful youths who created our own jobs. We need the government’s support to get back on our feet,” Yahaya added.
