A case of alleged theft unfolded in an Ogun State Magistrate Court on Monday, as five men were arraigned for stealing a truckload of Milo products valued at N25 million. The defendants, Temidire Ramon, 35, Aminu Yusuf, 26, Olusola Opadare, 35, Oludayo Adeleye, 38, and Amodu Jimoh, 51, pleaded not guilty to the charges of stealing and conspiracy.
According to the prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, the defendants conspired to steal the Milo products, which belonged to Nestle Nigeria Plc, on October 13, 2020, at Agbara in Ogun State. “The defendants conspired and stole a truckload of Milo products valued at N25 million,” Adaraloye said, adding that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mr O.A Onagoruwa, granted the suspects a bail of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum. Onagoruwa ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. “The sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government,” he added.
As the case was adjourned to December 12 for hearing, the defendants were left to ponder their fate. If found guilty, they could face severe penalties for their alleged crimes.
