Former NBA President set to contest as Edo Governor

Ex President of Nigeria Bar Association, Olumde Akpata, has declared his intention to contest for the position of governor in Edo Governorship Election on the Platform of Labour party next year.

On Thursday, Akpata said his interest is to make sure that people are carry along in the government, saying that if he emerge in the 2024 Edo Governorship Election on the platform of Labour Party he would ensure that the people enjoy the benefit of democracy.

According to him, Labour party is the only political platform that is people oriented and the party that rules in the interest of the people, adding that in Nigeria people  have been taken out of equation and no one cares about them.

Akpata said, “My interest is for the people of Edo State. And what I find out in politics and governance in Nigeria today is that the people have been taken out of the equation. No one cares about the people.

 

“So, when I look around, the only party I find to be people-oriented and to be interested in the lots of our people is the Labour Party. So I have come here to express my interest to contest for the position of the governor and to carry the people along.”

He promised to take the Labour Party to greater heights if he emerged as the candidate of LP in the primary.
