Ahead of the planned nationwide protest, Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Alhaji Muhammad Goronyo, has appealed to Nigerians to give Tinubu-led administration time to deliver his campaign promises.
This minister disclosed this on Friday, during an all-inclusive stakeholders and public session organised by the Sokoto State Government.
Goronyo who described the protest as a “politically-motivated treachery”, aimed not only at undermining the President, but also at pushing the country into a state of chaos and instability. According to him Tinubu administration inherited all assets and liabilities of the preceding administration, to strengthen democracy and promote development.
He urged Nigerians to put aside their differences and not let the planned nationwide protest to put the country in chaos.
He advised the youth to shelve the planned nationwide protest for the nation’s sake.
The Minister said: “This government is only a year and two months out of its four-year term. Nigerians need to be fair and patriotic, give the administration time to deliver.
“Tinubu’s administration took the courageous and deliberate step after inheriting all assets and liabilities of the preceding administration, to strengthen democracy and promote development,” he said.
“Patriotic citizens must work together to avert this calculated destructive protest.
“Similar situations have led countries like Sudan and Libya into endless economic setbacks, collapsing virtually all infrastructure and resources.”
He further said Sokoto state would not be involved in the protest following a decision reached during a stakeholders’ interactive session chaired by Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State.
