The Global Information Team through it head of investigation Anabel crown has appealed to the new NNPCL management under Ojulari to absorb staff of Hyson Nigeria limited as agreed after the NNPC board’s decision to dissolve all trading joint ventures and consolidate them into a wholly owned nnpc trading entity,Hyson Nigeria limited was officially wound up on December 31, 2023.
As part of the transition, the 12 staff members of Hyson were assured that there would be no job losses, with plans for their transfer to nnpc retail limited which never happened under Engr Mele Kyari until his recent removal by Mr President. The Global Information Team therefore calls on the new NNPCL management under Ojulari to among other things revisit the matter and urgently come to the aid of the twelve staff workers by absorbing them or applying the central bank of Nigeria style where relieved staffs were handsomely settled with attractive packages. Globally, it violates international labour law to keep workers promised in suspense as it implies deceit and deception.
The erstwhile managing director of Hyson limited who also deliberately refused to sign a letter the nnpc would have used to absorb the twelve staff also erred in law and the GIT believe he did it out of selfishness without taking into consideration the well being and family demands of the workers. It is on record that staff went through rigorous interviews conducted by NNPC retail management.
The results of successful candidates were submitted to nnpc retail board chaired by the immediate past GCEO Engr Mele Kyari for approval. However, the matter remains under consideration which subjected the staff members to hardship, deprivation and starvation. We also call on Mr President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu who is the substantive minister of petroleum that supervises the nnpcl to wade into this matter as father of the nation and true democrat. These are people’s father and children. As such, they deserved to be sympathised with by absorbing them without delay in the interest of humanity, building of the nation and defence of their rights and privileges.
