Odua Integrity group has called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to probe the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, over allegations of disloyalty and anti-party activities.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the group’s Head of Investigation, Olatunji Olawale, claimed that Senator Basiru has been holding “secret meetings” with former Osun State governor and leader of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola. According to Olawale, Basiru was allegedly sighted during a covert meeting with Aregbesola in Osogbo.
“We challenge Ajibola Basiru to swear by the Holy Qur’an that he has not been engaging in secret meetings with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Osogbo,” Olawale said. “Individuals like Ajibola are impediments to the growth and cohesion of our party.”
The group further alleged that since Basiru assumed office as the party’s national scribe, “many things have not been moving smoothly,” accusing him of disloyalty and double standards. They also claimed he has hindered the full implementation of President Tinubu’s directive regarding support for the APC Progressive Institute established under former National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
“We urge President Tinubu to relieve Ajibola Basiru of his duties because he is an enemy within,” the statement added. “A fully functional APC Progressive Institute would effectively promote and project the laudable achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The group also called on ministers and top government officials to intensify their efforts in publicizing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and ongoing reforms.
