The Global Awareness Network For Prudence has through its country representative Okolo Kanja Okolo, urged the President and commander in Chief of Nigeria, Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend his checkmating of overzealous heads of agencies to the incumbent DSS DG Yusuf Magaji Bichi, over numerous allegations of abuse of office and annexing of government property to his wife’s possession against standards and ethics of the Job.
The Director General’s wife has allegedly converted a guest house, belonging to the service into her personal property.
The son of Bichi is also with eight well-armed personnel of the service, severally harassed perceived enemies of his, with even a petition recently sent to the FCT police command for redress.
The Director General also severally put a deaf ear to the continuous stay of some retired officers like his chief security officer and others.
“There are many retired officers brought back by the DG as a result of their relationship with him which has created rancour and stagnancy in the service. Tribalism and nepotism are watchwords in the service presently which is bringing down morales in the entire service components in the federation.
“Since the inception of different DSS heads, Bichi is the only DG that has allowed his wife and son to meddle in the official proceeding of the work which has set a bad precedence.
“We hope that the President will investigate and relieve him of his appointment. Emefiele and Bawa are presently in detention and suspended, same treatment must be extended to the DSS DG, if equity must be followed, as no one is above the laws of the land”, Okolo. added.
He added that some Nigerians are insinuating that Bichi and Tinubu have a cordial relationship, hence the silence on various publications made regarding these lengthy allegations.
“A serious intelligence organisation like the DSS must be devoid of politics, personalisation, nepotism and high-handedness. The faster Asiwaju acts the better for the entire service in the interest of officers and men”, he said.
