Afrobeats singer Spyro has said he is already successful enough to retire from music, even though many people are unaware of how well he is doing. Speaking on the Adesope Live show, the singer explained that he does not brag about his achievements.
“If I stop making music today, I’m made. A lot of people don’t know that because I don’t brag,” he said.
Spyro revealed that he is regularly booked for high-profile corporate events, including performances for banks and top business leaders such as Tony Elumelu.
According to him, only a few Nigerian artists get such invitations because organizers prefer musicians whose songs are “clean” and suitable for all audiences, especially family-friendly settings.
“I really don’t do industry shows. I do corporate shows. I have carved a niche for myself in the industry like that. I get booked for events by banks and elites like Tony Elumelu every end of the year,” he explained.
He added that artists like Chike and Johnny Drille also fall into this category of performers who are considered when event hosts want music appropriate for children and diverse audiences.
“Because when they are looking for clean music, maybe because children are going to be at the event, only a few artists like myself, Chike and Johnny Drille can be called upon,” Spyro said.
