The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has strongly denied ever being involved in fraudulent activities throughout his career in the public sector.

He stated during an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Sunday.

Olukoyede said, “I’d like to tell Nigerians here, with every sense of responsibility, that all through my service in the public sector, as Chief of Staff, in the EFCC, as Secretary in the EFCC, I have never been involved in any fraudulent activity.”

He added, “As Chief of Staff, no Nigerian, and I challenge anybody to say otherwise, can claim that I ever accepted a bribe, even as small as a bottle of Coke or one naira, to influence my judgment in carrying out my duties.

“As Secretary, I have managed and disposed of assets, and no asset can be traced to me or any member of my family. No Nigerian can say I collected a single dime in the course of my responsibilities.”

Olukoyede urged Nigerians to investigate his record, emphasizing that he performs his duties with diligence and commitment.

“I’m telling you, I’ve never been involved in any fraudulent activity. Whether as Chief of Staff or Secretary, if anyone has ever offered me a bribe and I accepted it, I challenge them to come forward and say it,” he said.

The EFCC has faced criticism from some quarters for allegedly targeting members of the opposition and engaging in a selective fight against corruption.
