The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is transitioning to online communications in order to limit physical interaction with candidates prevent extortion.
This was disclosed in a statement by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.He said :”given that many of the candidates who take the UTME are underage, the board is considering limiting physical contact with those with challenges to avoid any alleged issues of extortion and other forms of exploitation.
“By limiting physical interactions and transitioning to online communications, JAMB hopes to tackle issues of extortion and exploitation. All calls will be recorded for effective monitoring and quality control. This decision comes after the board received reports of unwholesome practices, prompting an investigation.”
Prof. Oloyede commended JAMB staff for their honesty and diligence, stating that “In terms of honesty, I can vouch for over 99 percent of JAMB staff, but any bad eggs will be identified and dealt with appropriately.”
These measures demonstrate JAMB’s commitment to protecting candidates, particularly minors, and ensuring a transparent and fair admission process
