The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba as the recommended reading text for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Use of English paper. This update comes ahead of the release of details regarding the registration process for the examination.
In a statement on its official X account, JAMB advised prospective candidates to prepare early by securing their National Identification Number (NIN) and a unique phone number, which are prerequisites for generating a profile code.
While registration for the 2025 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) has yet to commence, the board emphasized the importance of readiness.
“You can get your NIN ahead and a phone number that has not been previously used to register on our platform to generate your profile code prior to the time.” The post read.
The announcement of The Lekki Headmaster as the new text for the Use of English paper marks a shift in JAMB’s annual tradition of recommending contemporary literature to test candidates’ comprehension and analytical skills. Candidates have been encouraged to familiarize themselves with the book to enhance their preparation for the examination.
In addition, JAMB has directed its staff to update their profiles or register afresh to ensure a seamless examination process. The directive aims to prevent protocol breaches and streamline operations.
JAMB assured the public that details on the registration process would be shared soon, urging candidates to stay updated through its official platforms.
With preparations underway and a new reading text in focus, candidates are advised to start early to ensure a smooth and successful UTME experience.
