Kaduna police foils kidnapping attempt

Kaduna State Police Command at kuriga village has arrested an informant for kidnappers along with two notorious gunrunner identified as Abudlaziz Habibi and Nuhu Thomas.

The command also prevented a kidnapping attempt and rescued two victims in two separate operations in the state.

The Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, released a statement on Monday revealing that operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted gunrunners on August 14, 2024, at Madaci Village in Zaria, and seized a fabricated AK-47 rifle from them.

He said the suspects confessed to being involved in the illicit trade of arms, supplying weapons to notorious bandits operating in the Zaria area. had been attacked by bandits.

He said the state Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, to have commended the officers for their gallantry and urged the public to continue supporting the police with credible information to fight crime.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to running errands and serving as an informant for the kidnappers who reportedly hibernate within the Gidan Dogo Forest.

“A brief exchange of gunfire ensued, forcing the bandits to flee and abandon their captives.”

Dabig commended the officers for arresting the suspects an further urged the public to continue supporting the police, by providing credible information that would help them to fight against crime.
