Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has categorically denied rumors suggesting his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the governor emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the APC, labeling the rumors as baseless fabrications by mischief-makers.
He stated this In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Ahmed Idris on Sunday, Governor Idris stated, “I will be the last man standing in APC; I can’t and I will never even harbour the thought of leaving my party to join any coalition belonging to Atiku or anybody.” He highlighted that the APC was instrumental in his political ascent, providing the platform for his election as governor. “I was made by APC, and it is the platform I used to become the governor of Kebbi State; therefore, I will remain in the party no matter what,” he affirmed.
The governor reiterated his dedication to the development of Kebbi State, stating that his primary focus remains on delivering good governance across all sectors. “I refuse to lose focus on good governance in my state; political jobbers should have a rethink because I will not succumb to their imagination,” he declared.
In alignment with his commitment to the APC, he has been active in strengthening the APC’s presence in Kebbi State, recently welcoming over 100 defectors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC fold.
Governor Idris has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging that the people of Kebbi State will back the president in the upcoming 2027 elections.
