The Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello has approved the immediate disbursement of #497 million naira for 2023 WAEC examination payment fee for student enrolled in the state public schools.
The Governor stated this in a statement signed by the Governor chief press secretary, Muhammed Onogwu, adding that “this resolute step reflects the administration’s dedication to ensuring that every child has opportunity to access quality education regardless of their socioeconomic status.
The Governor noted that the disbursement is the realisation of the administration’s recent pledge to provide free education from primary to secondary school level within Kogi State’s public schools.
According to the Statement the Governor aims to empower students to undertake crucial examinations burden on their parents or guardians.
” He furthermore, emphasised that his administration would penalised parents who fail to enrol their children in school.
“This comprehensive approach to education underscores the states commitment to not only increasing access to education but also ensuring active participation”.
Furthermore, among all the schools that will directly benefit from this WAEC fees disbursement initiative Dekina has the highest number of students with 1,867 beneficiaries, followed by Lokoja Local Government Area with 1,569 students has beneficiaries and Okene Local Government Area has 1,345 students beneficiaries.
In total aggregate for the WAEC students beneficiaries are 15,033 student beneficiaries from Kogi government’s payment.
