Media practitioners have been advised to hold the government accountable to bring about development in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer of Connected Development (CODE), Hamzat Lawal, made the disclosure at the Knowledge sharing workshop for Journalists on covering Human Rights Violations/Civic space shrinkage, and digital security.
He urged Journalists to engage in investigative reports that will bring about transparency in the country.
“We want Journalists to be equipped with relevant skills that will enable them to write investigative reports that will bring about development to the country”, he said.
The Director of Program CODE, Lucy James Abagi, said Connected Development is set to work with Journalists in the aspect of Civic space shrinking and bringing about development to the country.
” We want to partner with Journalists in terms of shrinking space and ensuring that their digital rights are protected while working. We are also passionate about mentoring upcoming Journalists on the issue of shrinking civic space and digital rights.
” Capacity development is also important for media practitioners. This is why we are supporting Journalists in this regard”, she said.
