The Federal Government has assured the National Association of Resident Doctors that security agencies are working hard to rescue Dr. Ganiyat Popoola who has been in kidnap den for eight months.
The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa disclosed during a visit to the National Eye Centre in Kaduna urging the National Association of Resident Doctors to end their seven-day warning strike.
He said: “We are on top of the matter and have been in talks with the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, regarding the issue.
“I have spoken with the Commissioner of Police and everyone is working hard to ensure her release.
“We don’t believe this warning strike will do anything. All hands are on deck to secure her release
“For the past two days, we know she is alive, and that’s good news for us as the security agencies work hard to brin
“I appeal to you to call off the strike and let’s keep praying that she comes back home in peace.”
Dr. Popoola, was abducted on December 27, 2023, along with her husband and nephew.
Her husband was released in March, while Popoola and her nephew remain in captivity.
Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed, Chairman of the association, confirmed that the strike is ongoing, with support from medical and dental consultants, as directed by the national body.
