The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has appreciated everyone who contributed to the release of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, who was abducted for over ten months.
The association disclosed this in a statement by NARD’s spokesperson, Omoha Amobi, on Thursday confirming the release of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a registrar in the Ophthalmology Department at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna.
Dr. Popoola, was abducted on December 27, 2023, along with her husband and nephew.
Her husband was released in March, while Popoola and her nephew remain in captivity.
Amobi expressed the relief and joy felt by NARD’s President, Dr. Osundara Tope Zenith, saying: “We are filled with immense joy and relief to inform you that Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, our dear colleague, has been released and reunited with her family.”
The statement conveyed gratitude to everyone who contributed to her safe return, acknowledging “the unwavering support, prayers, and contributions of all members and well-wishers, which have been invaluable during this challenging time.”
