Nigerian students who are in need of monetary assistance have been alerted to a fake website created to impersonate the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as well as scammers trying to take advantage of the reaction of students to the quest for student loans by using untruthful content and links.

The agency raised the alarm over a fake online portal circulating across social media and messaging platforms. The fraudulent message falsely states that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the reopening of the student loan application process via a counterfeit link: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/.
“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading,”NELFUND stated emphatically.
The official and only legitimate application portal for the NELFUND Student Loan Scheme remains: https://nelf.gov.ng
NELFUND urged students, parents, and guardians to be cautious and avoid clicking on suspicious links or providing personal or banking information on unverified websites.
“Please report any suspicious messages or websites to us via email at info@nelf.gov.ng or reach out through our official social media platforms,” the agency added.
In an effort to maintain transparency and public trust, NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to fair and secure loan processing, emphasizing that all announcements are made exclusively through its official channels.
