During the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asserted Nigeria’s preparedness to host the African Central Bank by 2028, aligning with the Abuja Treaty’s vision.
Tinubu stressed the imperative of African solidarity in tackling various challenges, including climate change and unfair global trade patterns.
” We condemn internal hindrances such as coup-driven autocracies and constitutional amendments affecting tenure provisions, labelling them as detrimental to Africa’s development”, he said.
Addressing recent military takeovers in several African nations and subsequent disagreements within regional blocs, Tinubu emphasized the enduring importance of unity.
He underscored the significance of preserving regional affinity and cooperation
“The drive for a peaceful, strong, and united West Africa is bigger than any one person or group of people”, he said.
He further highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation.
