The DG/CEO of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has directed that no staff member should be without the NIN, as it is a mandatory requirement.
The DG/CEO has further directed that any staff who does not have the NIN will not be considered for training, and could face disciplinary action.
The Deputy Director/Head, Human Capital Management Department, Mrs Rhoda Jackden in a memo, said any staff without the NIN should obtain one on or before, Wednesday, 31st January, 2024.
Part of the memo read”It has come to the notice of Management that some staff members are yet to be enrolled into the National Identity Database, and as such, do not have the unique National Identity Number(NIN).
“Kindly recall that the NIMC ACT No 23 of 2007, clearly states that the NIMC has the mandate to establish, own, operate, maintain and manage the National Identity Database in Nigeria, register persons covered by the Act, assign a Unique National Identification Number (NIN) and issue General Multi- Purpose cards to those who are citizens of Nigeria as well as others legally residing within the Country”, the DG added.
