Three leading northern advocacy groups namely the Arewa youths for peace and security, Arewa renaissance movement and the Aladun gargajiyanmu movement after a press briefing in Abuja appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to be cajoled by the Osun state APC into taking sides and invoking actions capable of derailing the peace in the state.

The spokesperson of the groups Balarabe Ubandoma stated that the sweetness of democracy is when the opposition parties and the ruling party are engaged in grabbing of elective office brouhaha.

“The situation in Osun is not new in our history. During the second republic, the Unity party of Nigeria dragged the then national party of Nigeria to cleaners even though in charge then.

“The President should maintain neutrality and call the Minister of Blue Marine who escalated the matter as well as the inspector general of police to order.

“Ordinarily, that matter is not a big issue if all the tiers of government are allowed to strive independently. Even if it was an APC governor in Osun state, same thing he would have done by organising fresh election.

“No right thinking governor would ever allow his local councils to be manned and controlled by opposition parties that implies election lost and tsunami because that is the grassroot where the vote counts and matters.

The Executive Governor of Osun state so far has tried by maintaining law and order by asking elected council chairmen under PDP not to resume office to Avert chaos. “Such gesture is good for peace at this material time. And to some people peddling negative rumour on social media that there is danger in Osun state,it is false and antics of detractors. All hands must be on deck to move Osun state forward.”
