The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that an incident involving the Warri-Itakpe Train Service (WITS) occurred on Monday, with emergency responders and relevant authorities deployed to the scene.
The confirmation was contained in a statement signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NRC, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, who said the corporation was closely monitoring the situation and coordinating response efforts.
According to the statement, emergency response teams are currently attending to the incident and providing necessary assistance to those affected.
“The Corporation is closely monitoring developments and a detailed statement will be issued as soon as more information becomes available,” the NRC said.
The railway operator urged members of the public to remain calm and rely only on official channels for verified information regarding the incident.
