In a bid to enhance the welfare of corps members, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has intensified its collaboration with private sector organizations, leading to significant developments in the scheme. Among these is the recent donation of a new bus by Capital Express Insurance Company to ease transportation challenges for corps members and staff in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking at the handover ceremony on Tuesday, the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving corps members’ welfare.
He used the occasion to announce an upcoming increase in corps members’ monthly allowance to N77,000, a move he said was in its final stages of implementation.
Ahmed lauded Capital Express Insurance Company for its continued support of the scheme, describing the partnership as a testament to the importance of private sector involvement in advancing national initiatives. “This donation will go a long way in addressing transportation issues faced by both our staff and corps members,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer of Capital Express Insurance Company, Matthew Ogwezhi, expressed pride in the ongoing partnership with NYSC, emphasizing the company’s dedication to supporting initiatives that positively impact young Nigerians.
The new allowance and partnerships highlight the NYSC’s commitment to ensuring a better experience for corps members, reinforcing the program’s role in national development and unity.
