The National Youth Service Corps in collaboration with the Security Agencies has rescued the Corps members who were abducted in Zamfara State on their way to Sokoto State Orientation Camp.
This was made known through a press statement signed by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa.
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed said this when interacting with the members of the house of representatives committee on youth, led by Hon. Martins Esin.
General Ahmed added that the NYSC Management is consulting with various stakeholders in Zamfara State, Government, traditional rulers, clerics, and many others, towards ensuring that abductees are released unharm.
According to the NYSC Director General who presented detailed pictorial reports as evidence of his visits on the incident to different stakeholders in Zamfara State to the law makers.
While adding that the scheme places high priority on the security and welfare of all Corps Members .
The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Youth Honourable Esin Martin, in his remarks lauded the Director General of NYSC for honouring the committee’s invitation and for ensuring that the abductee corps Members regained their freedom.
Honourable Esin also promised total support of the committee on every legislative matters that would enable the NYSC scheme consolidate on the achievement in the post-jubilee era.
The Honourable further commended the NYSC director general for re-opening the Borno State Orientation Camp for Corps Members after a long closure.
