The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has urged leaders to urgently tackle insecurity, a compromised judicial system, and failed economic policies that it says have plunged Nigerians into hunger, poverty, and unemployment.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its Director General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, on behalf of the Forum’s chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, the governors urged leaders to urgently address insecurity, the compromised judicial system, and failed economic policies that have left millions in poverty and unemployment.
The statement, released as Muslims across the world mark Eid-el-Maulud, said:
“Today, our country is at a crossroads as Nigerians get disconnected from the constituted services they deserve. As we inch daily to full-blown dictatorship with its attendant abuse of power and citizens live in abject penury in the face of plenty, leadership is once again called to act.”
The Forum also called on Nigerians to draw inspiration from the values of Prophet Muhammad, stressing the need for peace, tolerance, accountability, and service to humanity.
“Let this day be a reminder of the values we should uphold and share — public service with accountability, kindness without expectation, humility, and the pursuit of truth to rebuild the faith of our citizens in our country,” it added.
