The People Democratic Party has urged the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to withdraw their support for Dino Melaye.

Dino was a candidate of People’s Democratic Party in 2023 Kogi state governorship election.

The party’s elders, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Dansofo, revealed this in a statement on Sunday made available to newsmen in Lokoja while calling for the suspension of Dino.

According to the party, Dino suspension was necessary to restore its integrity and focus on viable leadership.

The party said Dino nomination was a significant misstep that led to the party’s present predicament describing him as a “bondage” and a “big-time liability” for the party.

He said: “Melaye’s political ambitions have crumbled to the point where he can no longer secure even a local councilor position

“Senator Melaye has become a burden to the party. His accusations against the current leadership are hypocritical, as he himself was granted a governorship ticket despite the party’s awareness of his inability to win even a primary election.”
