The Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last general election, Dr Peter Obi is emphasizing the need for tanker truck drivers to exercise extra caution and adhere to safety measures to prevent explosions while driving.
He stated this during his condolence visit to the government and people of Jigawa State in Dutse.
Obi urged governments at all levels to intensify efforts to provide Nigerians with a good livelihood.
He said the explosion in Majia, Jigawa State, which claimed over 180 lives, is a national tragedy .
Governor Umar Namadi Dan Modi of Jigawa State praised Obi’s gesture, stating that his visit demonstrated commitment to the lives of all Nigerians and symbolized unity.
” The Governor also highlighted the state government’s prompt actions to support the victims’ families, acknowledging the nationwide concern for the tragedy.
Obi’s visit was met with mixed reactions, with some commending his empathy and others criticizing his actions as politically motivated .
Nevertheless, Obi’s message emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in preventing such tragedies and promoting national unity.
