Labour Party presidential candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to Plateau State to commiserate with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the people of the state over the recent spate of violent attacks in the Bokkos area, which have led to tragic loss of lives and displacement of many residents.
Obi stated this on his X handle on Sunday.
He described the killings as “saddening and utterly unacceptable,” emphasizing that no Nigerian should live in fear or be forced from their homes in peacetime.
“What has happened in these communities is deeply tragic. Every life is precious, and Nigerians should not be subjected to this kind of violence,” Obi stated. “My heart goes out to the people of Bokkos, especially the children and women who have been displaced.”
In a show of continued support, Obi announced that the Obidient Movement had earlier constructed a borehole to provide clean water for the internally displaced persons (IDP) camp and surrounding community. He further disclosed a donation of N7.5 million made during his visit to aid in the provision of essential facilities, education, and ongoing needs for those affected.
He called for unity, compassion, and responsible leadership during this difficult time, reiterating his commitment to peace, justice, and national healing.
“Now, more than ever, leadership and compassion are essential,” Obi said. “A new Nigeria is Possible.”
