Prophetess Arrested Over Mother, Newborn’s Death in Church

The police have arrested the prophetess, Mrs. Folashade Adekola, in connection with the death of a woman, Jumoke Adesuwa and her newborn baby who died inside a church in Oke-Aro area of Akure , Ondo State .

According to reports, Jumoke bled to death from complications after childbirth inside the church. Her baby also died immediately after birth. The prophetess was arrested after the deceased’s brother reported the incident to the police .

The family received a call from the church informing them that Jumoke had given birth, but upon arrival, they found her in a pool of blood, bleeding profusely. Despite rushing her to three hospitals, she died due to her critical condition .

The police have taken the prophetess into custody and are conducting further investigations. “The case was reported by the deceased’s brother, and the prophetess is already in custody. Investigations are still ongoing,” said Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the state Police Public Relations Officer.

This incident raises concerns about the safety and medical care provided in some religious institutions. The police must ensure that those responsible are held accountable for the tragic loss of life.
