The House of Representatives has called on relevant law enforcement agencies to give priority to homicide investigations and ensure that offenders are thoroughly prosecuted.
This appeal was made as they urged swift justice for victims of gender-based violence, emphasizing that prompt legal action would help deter the social menace.
Through a motion sponsored by Awajiinombek Abiante and three others, the House argued that the persistence of gender-based violence is driven by delays in justice delivery.
The House emphasized that setting up dedicated divisions within existing courts, with sole authority over homicide and related cases, would accelerate justice, ease case backlogs, and strengthen public trust in the legal system.
The House accordingly resolved to call on the National Judicial Council to establish specialized divisions within courts at all levels to ensure the prompt handling of homicide and femicide cases.
