Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, following his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 election in the state.
Hamzat secured the party’s ticket after the APC direct primary election held across Lagos on Thursday, with Sanwo-Olu describing his victory as a reflection of the confidence party members have in his leadership capacity.
In a statement issued on Friday, the governor said the large turnout of party faithful during the primary election demonstrated strong support for Hamzat and the administration’s development agenda.
“On behalf of my family, I congratulate Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat on his emergence as the standard bearer of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, in next year’s gubernatorial election in Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He expressed confidence that Hamzat’s vision would further drive the growth and development of the state, adding that his leadership would benefit residents across Lagos.
The governor also commended APC members in the state for their loyalty and peaceful conduct throughout the primary process.
According to him, party supporters must remain united and committed as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
Sanwo-Olu noted that while the primary election had been concluded, more work lies ahead for the party in its efforts to retain power in Lagos State.
