Senator Akpabio Emerges As Senate President

The All Progressives Congress Senator, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday emerged as President of the Senate.

 

The contest for the position of the Senate president was between Akpabio, a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and ex-governor of Akwa Ibom State and Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and

 

The selection process commenced as early as 8.45 am and concluded at 9.15am.

 

The voting process began alphabetically, with each state taking its turn.

 

Nominations were received for Senator Abdul’aziz Yari and Senator Godswill Akpabio after which the Clerk of the Senate declared nominations closed in absence of further nominations.
