President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military President Ibrahim Babangida, as chairman of the restructured Bank of Agriculture.
The appointment was made public in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Babangida’s appointment is part of a broader announcement involving eight other individuals who will serve in various capacities across key federal agencies.
Muhammad Babangida, 53, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland. He also completed the Executive Program on Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
Others appointed by the President include Lydia Kalat Musa from Kaduna State as chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority; Jamilu Wada Aliyu from Kano State as chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council; and Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa, also from Kano State, as chairman of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria.
Sanusi Musa (SAN) from Kano State was appointed chairman of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, while Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu from Sokoto State will serve as director-general of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa.
Sanusi Garba Rikiji from Zamfara State was named director-general of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations, Mrs. Tomi Somefun from Oyo State as managing director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission, and Dr. Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria from Kaduna State as executive director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission.
