President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
His tenure, originally set to expire on August 31, 2025, has been extended to allow him to complete key initiatives critical to the administration’s reform agenda.
The announcement was made today in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, the extension will enable Mr. Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Customs Service and see through the completion of priority projects such as the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and the execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
“President Tinubu recognises Mr. Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment to service,” the statement reads.
“The President is confident that this extension will further empower the Nigeria Customs Service to fulfil its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.”
