Tinubu Hails Super Eagles After 4–0 Victory Over Gabon

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles following their emphatic 4–0 win over Gabon in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, describing the victory as a reflection of the “true Nigerian spirit of resilience against all odds.”

The win secures Nigeria a spot in the Africa Playoff stage of the qualifiers.

“This is the true Nigerian spirit of resilience against all odds. Do not stop until you secure a qualification. Super Eagles, keep soaring. The nation stands with you! Tinubu said.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said the performance showcased the Nigerian character that “rises, adapts, and prevails.”

He praised the team’s display of courage, balance, and precision, noting that football remains one of the nation’s strongest symbols of unity and shared pride.

According to the President, the result injects “fresh momentum into the national spirit” and strengthens the country’s collective resolve to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Tinubu commended the players, coaching crew, and technical staff for their unwavering commitment, saying their dedication had delivered a well-deserved victory. He added that the win reflects the deep pool of football talent Nigeria continues to produce and the Super Eagles’ determination to reclaim their place among Africa’s elite teams.

The President also saluted millions of Nigerian supporters at home and abroad whose passion and loyalty continue to inspire the team, especially during crucial international fixtures.

In a message directed to the squad, Tinubu urged the Super Eagles to build on the momentum and remain focused on the remaining qualifying matches. He emphasised that “every match is an opportunity to show discipline, character, and to prove again that Nigeria’s ambition is within reach.”

“Super Eagles, keep soaring. The nation stands with you,” the President said.
