President Bola Tinubu has directed an investigation into allegations that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike allocated over 2,000 hectares of prime Abuja land to his son. The probe aims to determine the validity of claims that Wike misused his office for personal gain.
The allegations, initially reported by Peoples Gazette, assert that Wike allocated 2,082 hectares of land in Abuja’s high-end districts—Maitama, Asokoro, Gaduwa, Guzape, and Bwari—to JOAQ Farms and Estates Ltd., a company purportedly linked to his son. The land, valued at approximately $3.6 billion, was allegedly designated for agricultural purposes but is suspected to be a cover for personal enrichment.
In response, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, refuted the claims, stating
“Not even a single plot of land has been allocated to any of the Minister’s children.”
Olayinka further clarified that JOAQ Farms and Estates Ltd. received land in Bwari Area Council strictly for agricultural use, questioning the feasibility of allocating such a vast expanse in developed districts
