President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain united and resilient amid economic and security challenges as Christians celebrate Easter.
In his 2026 Easter message, the president said the season “reminds us of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the redemptive power of salvation for humanity.”
He noted that Easter reflects “sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness,” adding that the message aligns with Nigeria’s current situation.
“For us in Nigeria, the essence resonates with our current realities as we navigate a period marked by economic strain and security challenges, even as determined efforts are underway to address them,” he said.
Tinubu acknowledged ongoing security concerns but assured that efforts are being intensified.
“My administration continues to make resources available and forge foreign partnerships to enable us to deal decisive blows to the agents of terror and banditry,” he said.
He also spoke on his recent visit to Plateau State.
“I was in Jos to commiserate with the people and offer reassurances of better days to come,” he said.
The president called for unity and support for security efforts.
“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” he said, urging citizens to support lawful efforts and reject threats to national stability.
On the economy, Tinubu said reforms are necessary despite current difficulties.
“The ongoing reforms, though demanding in their immediate impact, have been carefully put together to take us to a shared prosperity,” he said, adding that “true transformation cannot be achieved without sacrifice.”
As the country approaches another electoral cycle, he urged political actors to act responsibly.
“The Electoral Act must guide the conduct of our political parties and political actors. Let our choices be guided by a shared commitment to peace, continuity, stability, and the long term good of our country,” he said.
Expressing optimism, the president said “economic indicators show we are making the right choices. A new dawn is on the horizon.”
He thanked Nigerians for their continued support and urged them to keep faith in the country’s progress, wishing citizens a happy Easter.
