President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence in some northern part of the country and vowed to bring perpetrators to justice.
The attacks, which included a suicide bombing in Borno, a mass lynching in Plateau, and a deadly explosion in Kano State have prompted an immediate federal government response.
President Tinubu, in an address on his official X account, expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the unfolding tragedies.
“I am deeply saddened and outraged by the series of tragic events that have shaken our nation in recent days.
The President stressed that the attacks on innocent lives are unconscionable and must not stand.
In response to the Konduga, Borno bombing, Tinubu disclosed he has directed the National Emergency Management Agency to assist survivors and conveyed his condolence to the people of Borno State.
He urged the military and security agencies to eliminate any remaining Boko Haram elements
“Hunt down and rout the remnants of Boko Haram and crush their ability to inflict harm on soft targets as a diversionary tactic.”
While reacting to the Plateau State incident, the president condemned the “barbaric murder of 12 wedding guests,” who were attacked while returning from a celebration.
He urged law enforcement to work with all relevant security and intelligence agencies to ensure that those responsible are swiftly apprehended and prosecuted.
“These killings must not go unanswered. We are calling on the Plateau state government to act decisively to break the cycle of violence.
While emphasising that freedom of movement is a non‑negotiable right of every Nigerian, the president warned that the government will not tolerate efforts to undermine this fundamental liberty through terror and brutality.
Also in Kano State, a tragic explosion at a scrap metal facility claimed five lives. President Tinubu highlighted the urgent need for stronger workplace safety enforcement and directed relevant agencies to investigate the incident and recommend preventive measures.
Concluding his message, the president offered prayers for the victims and gave reassurance to affected communities.
“We will not rest until justice is done and peace and safety are fully restored across our land.”
