The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has assured Nigerians that the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are beginning to yield positive results.
Idris conveyed the President’s position in a statement issued in Abuja by his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim , stressing that the administration had taken bold and sometimes difficult decisions to put Nigeria on a more sustainable economic path.
“The administration has taken bold and sometimes difficult decisions to place Nigeria on a more sustainable path. Early signs of recovery are becoming evident across key sectors of the economy,” the minister said.
According to him, the reforms were implemented to stabilise the economy and restore investor confidence, adding that they have laid the foundation for long-term growth and shared prosperity.
Idris urged Nigerians to protect the country’s improving economic outlook through unity, responsible communication, and collective support for national policies, warning that distorted narratives about Nigeria could undermine investor confidence and slow development.
“When we project stability and unity, we attract investments and create opportunities for our people. We must speak positively and truthfully about Nigeria,” he said.
The minister commended the GAT 2027 group for its civic engagement and commitment to promoting accurate public information, while welcoming the group’s proposal for a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Information and the National Orientation Agency in public enlightenment, youth engagement, and strategic communication.
He noted that advocacy groups play a critical role in taking government policies to the grassroots and described effective communication as essential to national stability and development.
Idris also reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to building a Nigeria that works for all citizens, regardless of religion or background, assuring the delegation that the ministry would continue to collaborate with credible groups to ensure accurate information is widely disseminated.
