In a heartbreaking turn of events, a prominent hotelier, Mr. A.O. Akinyele, collapsed and died during his wife’s 60th birthday celebration on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in the Egbeda area of Lagos.
According to reports, Mr. Akinyele was addressing guests on stage when he suddenly slumped. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Earlier in the event, Mr. Akinyele had presented his wife, Mrs. Catherine Akinyele, with a brand-new Toyota Highlander as a birthday gift, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The sudden tragedy has left the family and attendees in deep shock and mourning.
Described by many as an amiable and generous individual, Mr. Akinyele’s unexpected passing has cast a pall over what was meant to be a joyous occasion. The family has requested privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
