Vice-President Kashim Shettima has strongly condemned the bomb explosion that rocked a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, killing five people and injuring many others.
The blast, believed to be a suicide bombing, occurred at the Al-Adum Mosque in Gamboru Market on Wednesday evening, December 24, 2025, during Maghrib prayers .
Shettima described the attack as a despicable assault on innocent citizens and the peace of the nation.
President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate intensification of security operations in Borno State, with additional tactical teams deployed to track down and apprehend those responsible .
The Vice-President expressed confidence in the country’s security architecture, assuring that perpetrators would face the full weight of the law.
“We sympathize with the Government of Borno, residents, and families who lost loved ones, reiterating the Tinubu administration’s commitment to national security and protecting lives and property “.
Shettima described the attack as a despicable assault on innocent citizens and the peace of the nation.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice-president said President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate intensification of security operations in Borno State following the incident.
