The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on mothers, particularly lactating mothers, to embrace healthy lifestyles and consume nutritious foods for their well-being and that of their children.
In a message to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week 2026, observed from August 1 to 7, the First Lady joined the global community in support of this year’s theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
“As we commemorate World Breastfeeding Week 2026, I join the global community in support of this year’s theme: ‘Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works,’” she said.
According to the First Lady, breastfeeding provides the foundation for a child’s healthy growth and lifelong development.
“Breastfeeding lays the foundation for a child’s healthy growth and lifelong development, making it a vital investment in families and a nation,” she said.
She also encouraged mothers, especially lactating mothers, to adopt healthy lifestyles and eat nutritious foods.
