Zamfara state set to commence immunisation, vaccination, malaria test

Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board has introduced new method of taking immunization and vaccination of children in the state.

 

This was disclosed by the programme manager, routine immunization in the state, Mustapha Aliyu, saying that the introduction of the new method was as a result of low turn up of children taking immunization and vaccination against diseases in the State.

 

According to him, market day immunisation and vaccination had also been introduced in the state to integrate malaria tests with the immunisation and vaccination exercise.

 

He said,“In order to improve immunisation coverage, we introduced market day immunisation where we gather children and give them immunization. ”

 

Aliyu said the security issues in the state had affected successful campaign on immunisation and vaccination as a good number of health facilities were not functioning properly.

 

He added that the state government is doing everything possible to engage traditional and religious leaders for effective mobilisation of parents to support the campaign against killer diseases.
