Tragedy struck in Lagos State on Wednesday when a building collapsed at Oriwu Street in the Lekki Phase 1 area. Unfortunately, the death toll has risen to four, with two more bodies recovered from the rubble on Thursday, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer .
Rescue efforts are still ongoing, with six people rescued and administered immediate medical care.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded promptly to distress calls, deploying its Shark and Eagle Response Teams to the scene.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined, but investigations are underway.
LASEMA’s Director-General, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, assured that search and rescue operations are ongoing, with heavy-duty equipment deployed to the scene.
In total, 15 people have been rescued from the site, while six others sustained injuries.
